Abstract: Sea buckthorn (Hipphophae rhamnoides) has many superior biological properties, such as drought resistance, barren resistance and severe cold resistance. China’s sea buckthorn resources are very rich, and distributed in more than 10 provinces and regions in the northwest, southwest, north and northeast of the country. It plays an active role in desertification control and ecological protection in China. With the continuous increase of China’s desertification prevention and control efforts and the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, it is of great positive significance to the realization of Chinese modernization that the ecologically fragile northwest region can achieve comprehensive improvements in ecological, social, and economic benefits in the process of desertification control. As a variety with excellent comprehensive properties, sea buckthorn can be further improved on the basis of the existing development and utilization in China. Meanwhile, sea buckthorn can also be used as a bond to give full play to its ecological restoration function and economic benefits. In addition, it also needs to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with countries in Central Asia, thus realizing joint prevention and control of desertification.
