By GUO Geng
Abstract:
Lophophorus lhuysii, Genus Lophophorus of the Family Phasianidae, Order Galliformes, is a large alpine bird peculiar to China and is a National First-class Key Protected Animal. They are mainly distributed in high altitude areas of western Sichuan, and scatter in northwestern Yunnan, eastern Tibet, eastern Gansu and southeastern Qinghai. Due to human activities, the wild population of Lophophorus lhuysii is very rare. When the author conducted field investigaion in Mount Min 30 years ago, they could see flocks of Lophophorus lhuysii, which was really rare!
