Abstract:
Ex-situ (off site) Conservation and In-site Conservation are both conservation tools, and the former should be the main measure. If Ex-situ Conservation becomes regular practice, it is equal to provide an excuse for destructive development. Scaling up Ex-situ Conservation unrealistically is against the initial purpose of biodiversity protection. Wild plants that go through Ex-situ Conservation will face environmental adaptation and genetic risks. One third of the key protective plant species suffer from malnutrition, reproducing barrier even death. Therefore, we must not take Ex-situ Conservation as a “business”
