Abstract:

On May 6, 2022, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress listed the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Ecological Protection Law as a bill for initial review. The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is an important ecological security barrier area for China and even the whole Asia and is a key area for global biodiversity conservation, thus the legislation process of its ecological protection work has been given a lot attention. Zhou Jifeng, Vice President and Secretary General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation, elaborated the significance of the establishment of the Ecological Protection Law on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and suggestion on the legislation.
