The necessity of biodiversity as a preliminary consideration in the evaluation of GEP

Abstract: Dr. ZHOU Jinfeng, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation, expresses his views regarding the reasons why the evaluation of Gross Ecosystem Product (GEP) should take account of biodiversity. Meanwhile, using examples including unused grassland, pangolins and Chinese Honey Bees, he discusses the necessity of biodiversity as a preliminary consideration in the evaluation of GEP.
